Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
Venting, just a great big warm hug for you. Keep on keeping on, it has to eventually change, hopefully for the better for you.
You are welcome!
Hoping today is better, for us all.
Brandee,
Opening jars is the worst, especially in my thumb joint.
Then, I realized, people with arthritis, chronic fatigue, allergies, fibromyalgia, and other chronic conditions often suffer more during seasonal changes, or as the old adage says, "I can feel it in my bones when it's going to rain."
There is a storm coming so both my dH and me are seriously down for the count.
Although we can't blame everything on the weather, the rain, the New Moon, storms at sea, these events do have an effect on humans. They come and go.
So, venting, I hear you. It may very well be out of my control too, so I am cancelling things. Sometimes, the things on that list end up not being so important, or so urgent.
Eating chocolate to survive and self-medicate.
Sorry for this hard time in your life Venting. Maybe the solution is to just STOP for a day or two and recover, let this time pass.
I know that I have no power over these things, as Gershun has said.
My life is such a rollercoaster. It’s terrible. And it’s out of my control. And the things that are in my control, well I’m so stressed right now to deal with them well.
I’m going through a hard time.
Maybe I have the wrong goals in life? I need to make some changes.
I used to be great at getting things done. I think the problem is that the list is so big now. I know the solution is just to start anywhere.
There is NO WAY, even in America, that anyone, even Americans are going to allow this to stand. Canada is our friend!
Renaming has been unsuccessful at gaining international compliance, local adoption, or universal corporate acceptance.
This is done by ignoring the new names, it has happened before.
My friend with Alzheimer's renames everything in the nursing home, then, forgets the name.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hand pain is the worst. I'm on the mend now but 2025 was rough.
I'd never heard the song called "The Bargain Store." I really like it.

She was 80 years young.
There is no pattern to my arthritis that I have noticed. I just feel sore most of the time. I try to not let it get me down cause that obviously doesn't help.
Chocolate just helps to make me fatter. :P
That arthritis pain can be difficult. It seems to have a life of it's own, hurting with or without medication. Then hurting worse like when trying to open a jar.
Or wiping you out after just a little healthy walk. Or even hurting more after resting a bit too long.
Is that similar to what happens to you?
Instead of giving up or just crashing on the couch, allow yourself some rest, be kinder and forgiving of your body, and keep on moving. Even if it is sometimes from the couch, to the bathroom, to the refrigerator, to the mailbox and back.
There is no guilt in needing to take it easy in between your chores. imo.
My arthritis pain comes and goes. It gets better at times.
Does chocolate help?
Hang in there!
I know everybody is different, and experiences Parkinson's different too.
I wanted to just say that our elderly neighbor (much older than you) would freeze up and not be able to move. Hours later, we would see him zooming by with his walker headed somewhere, all in the same day. Massage helped.
There were other times his brain would cause him to not be able to take the next step up the stairs. (hello, brain to feet.) We observed that he once threw his hat
ahead of him into the room, and that made him able to move, focusing on getting the hat. Later, we made orange feet to place on the stairs and placed them in front of him as he went up. This worked, maybe to wake up or remind his brain to move.
Hoping that somehow, you will feel comforted that there are going to be work-a-rounds that will help you keep on moving well into the future.
Please stay in touch as often as you can.
"When we were at our worst"
When was that?
I think it is now for me.
It's okay, because there is just so much more room for improvement.
I've stepped back from the forum for a while now
Not much new in my life. We got two new kitties in November. Wyatt and Georgie. One of them looks like Golden's cat Rockie. The other a black and tan tabby. They are sweet but I still find myself missing my other two cats. These ones are so different. I don't feel like I've really bonded with them as much. Sometimes I wonder what their start in life was like cause they are still a little shy and unapproachable. I try but let them come to me. They prefer it that way.
Hubs still works and is away from our place 4 or 5 days of the week. He stays with his mom on those days. She is probably not long for this world. Her condition deteriorates daily. I've never been a big fan of hers but find myself feeling guilt when I see pics of her. It's weird when someone you've never had much of a relationship with is dying and hubs talks about it, expecting words of wisdom from me. It would be easier if I'd liked her at all. Words seem hollow. I can't find it in myself to go visit her even though I know it would be the Christian thing to do. But I pray for her.
My arthritis gets worse every day. Sometimes I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Hips, knees, hands etc. etc. Still going for my walks but pay for it the next day.
Anyway, that's my news.
Parkinson's confirmed.
Thank you.
It is good to see that you can still be a member and post from your new housing.
How's it going?
Yes, self-destructive behaviors-
I can learn to accept not knowing.
More Twinkle lights ...
I had a long talk with Ai last night.
You have done what you can - which is to respond to his questions. Let it go now, for your own sake. As you say, he has autonomy, and he is entitled to that.
I came across something recently which I have found helpful. in dealing with anxiety. - the three P's.
Is it Permanent?
How Pervasive is it? (how much does it affect your life as a whole)
Have you any Power to deal with it?
Good luck!
